Next week at Skills Launchpad Plymouth - w/c 30 September

We have another busy week ahead at Skills Launchpad Plymouth. Here to support you in your journey to find skills, training and employment!

To save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a breakdown of what's on and when.


Monday  (open to anyone 16+)

  • China Fleet Country Club Recruitment Drop in, 10am to 2 pm: Pop in and meet members of the team from The China Fleet Country Club, to discuss current vacancies on offer, and future opportunities. Our Visitor Economy Co-ordinator James will also be on hand to offer advice and guidance about all things retail, hospitality and tourism. From cv techniques to training opportunities, he will be able to support you in your next step.

  • This week, pop in and chat to our Health and Care Co-ordinators Jack and Nat. They have been busy preparing for the Health and Social Care Careers Showcase, taking place on Friday 4 October. If you are thinking of attending the event, they will be on hand to get you ready! They can offer advice and guidance about the event itself, what to expect when you are there, and what you can do to prepare to get the most out of the day.

Tuesday  (open to anyone 16+)

  • Construction Jobs and Training Drop-in with Balfour Beatty, 11am to 1pm: This is a fantastic opportunity to find out about over 50 construction vacancies in the South West. With jobs available in carpentry, earthworks, security and more, this is the perfect chance to learn about the support available to access them. Our Construction Co-ordinators Morven and Gareth will also be on hand to offer advice and guidance on training opportunities, and information about the industry itself.

  • Interested in the Green Economy? Our Green Skills Co-ordinators Jas and Victoria will be available discuss training opportunities and careers that could suit you.

  • If you are ex military and looking to gain new skills or secure work, pop in and chat to Victoria. She will be able to offer help with training and courses that may be of interest, careers you might not have thought of, and practical ways to make those changes!

  • Aged 19+? The National Careers Service offer pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice.


Wednesday (Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • 1:1 Youth Hub appointments, 10am to 2pm with our Coordinator Rhianne. She will be on hand to chat to you about skills, training, education and jobs. They are also a fountain of knowledge on apprenticeships and supported internships!

  • Our Youth Hub Work Coaches from the Jobcentre will be meeting people for pre-booked appointments

  • Hollie from the Prince's Trust will be available to discuss upcoming opportunities..

Thursday ( Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • Find Your Future, 12pm to 2pm Our Youth Hub Coordinator Rhi has cleared her diary between 12-2pm to support any care experienced young people in need of a chat and some direction. There’s no pressure to sign up to anything. It’s just a chat, and you can bring a friend or your PA. Pop in and give it a try.

University of Plymouth – Online talks 

Trying to find the right course for you and learn about student life can sometimes be tricky. The University of Plymouth’s outreach team has several electronic resources and online talks that you can dip into at a time to suit you. The talks cover a wide range of topics giving an insight into Higher Education, including finance, student budgeting and choosing a course.

Boundless - Efford Youth Centre, Monday 30 September, 6.30-8pm

A youth group for neurodiverse young people. A chance to make new friends, develop social skills and explore new opportunities.


Health and Social Care Careers Showcase, Friday 4 October , 10am to 4pm , Duke of Cornwall Hotel

Hosted by Caring Plymouth, this event brings together more than 20 recruiting employers including:

University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust

Livewell Southwest

Adult Social Care providers.

This event is a great chance to find out how you can make a real difference in your local community.
