National Careers Week 2025 with Skills Launchpad Plymouth

National Careers Week (Monday 3 to Saturday 8 March) will see organisations across the country working to increase awareness and excitement of career opportunities, as they inform and inspire people of all ages on their journeys.

Here in the city we have a growing workforce of almost 120,000 people and throughout next week Skills Launchpad Plymouth is championing careers digitally at www.skillslaunchpadplym.co.uk, and through themed experiences, events and support sessions, around Plymouth’s growth sectors.

Localised digital resources

The Skills Launchpad Plymouth website hosts localised resources based on age – click here for the Youth Hub and here for the Adult Hub  - but also for key sectors (click here), including businesses services, construction and the built environment, creative industries, digital, education and childcare, engineering and manufacturing, green economy, health and social care, marine and defence, public services, tourism, hospitality and retail. In addition to these pages, the active news and events page and social media channels will have a Careers Week takeover, as the team showcases these key sectors and the priority skills and roles within the city.

National Careers Week activities

Based on the first floor of Barclays Bank in the city centre, Skills Launchpad Plymouth will be hosting sector drop-in sessions on Monday and Tuesday between 10am and 2pm, a Youth Hub drop-in session for anyone aged 16 to 24-years-old to meet with local training providers to explore career pathways, and pre-booked one-to-one appointments for help applying for and interviewing for jobs and apprenticeships on Thursday. See calendar below.

Alongside support at Skills Launchpad Plymouth, there is also the week-long Building Plymouth Open Sites Week taking place, which enables school groups, and university students, military service leavers and job seekers looking to find out more about the fantastic careers in construction and the built environment.

To conclude National Careers Week, the Skills Launchpad Plymouth team will be attending The Big Parent's Evening at Home Park. Hosted by YMCA Plymouth, this event will include presentations from a range of specialists from key industries in our economy, discussing the changes happening in each sector, the variety of roles that will be available and the pathways on offer for young people. There will also be a chance to ask questions and meet employers and training providers after the presentations.
