Merry Christmas from the Youth Hub!

As Christmas approaches, we just want to remind our members how incredible you are for what you’ve achieved this year. We've seen you grow in strength and resilience — and we are so proud. Christmas is a time for joy, rest, and reflection, and we hope you find moments to relax and celebrate with those close to you.

Reflecting on a busy year at the Youth Hub, we wanted to share some of our highlights!

In January, we published our shiny new ‘Unlocking Careers in Plymouth’ booklet that included Plymouth focused careers information, a CV cheat sheet and a skills tick list to help you to make your own CV. We’ve loved seeing the look on your faces when you realise how many fab skills you have!

In February, we hosted a Youth Hub Focus Group to get to know you better and figure out what your priorities are when it comes to finding jobs and accessing work. Hearing from you was really valuable and helped us to be clear about what employers can do to support young people into jobs. Not to mention we enjoyed some delicious cakes and coffee too!

In March, we ended a year-long contract and reflected that Youth Hub had supported 169 young people during that time! Also, Youth Hub Coordinator Abi, began her outreach activities in the Honicknowle, Efford and Stonehouse areas to engage more young people in opportunities.

In April, our Youth Outreach Coordinator, Charlotte, joined the team. Those of you who work with Charlotte through the targeted work she does with the Virtual School will know how amazing she is!

In May, June and July we continued delivering better outcomes through collaboration, with visits to Manchester to get even more great ideas, locally collaborating on great opportunities with Poole Farm, the council's SEND team to help more people access Supported Internships, with Job Centre Work Coaches, On Course South West's Your Futures team, the King’s Trust, YMCA and so many more! Oh -  and did we mention we were highly commended for a national MJ Award? It was a big deal!

In August, we worked on our support over the summer holidays. We hosted events in the city centre, at Drake Circus and of course, out of Skills Launchpad Plymouth.

In September it was Launchpad Live! This two-day event by YMCA Plymouth welcomed over 2,200 school pupils from all Plymouth schools. There were loads of interactive zones and immersive technology with 50+ employers attending!

In October, we teamed up with PAs in the Care Leavers Team to provide more targeted support to help the young people they support connect with education, employment and training opportunities.

In November, we started hosting pre-taster sessions for The King’s Trust to build the confidence of young people thinking about enrolling on a programme and to get them familiar with the Youth Hub and the support available after their programme.

Which brings us to now, holly jolly December! We had a blast teaming up with Building Plymouth to host some Get into Construction programmes, and we're now busy planning for next year's support so watch this space. But for now, we wish you a Merry Christmas filled with warmth, laughter, and all the good things that make life brighter!
