Get behind the scenes of Building Plymouth Open Sites Week 2025

Local construction contractors and consultants are opening major construction sites across Plymouth in March as part of Building Plymouth Open Sites Week tying in once again with National Careers Week 2025.

Building Plymouth is offering a unique chance for local people to see ‘behind the scenes’ at thirteen major ‘live’ construction sites including healthcare facilities, housebuilding, a sports venue and heritage projects, Alongside the construction sites, there is also an opportunity to learn more from the consultants involved in designing these projects with a chance to visit technical/ consultant offices based at the Millfields and Royal William Yard as well as a visit to a state of the art training facility hosted by City College Plymouth in partnership with Kier Construction.

Aiming to inspire young people, career changers and job seekers to join the industry, as well as engaging with local residents, Building Plymouth’s Open Sites week will showcase how the various buildings and structures are constructed, and the diverse range of skills and careers needed to deliver these projects. The programme this year is one of our biggest to date as part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations.

Morven Maclean, Construction Coordinator said: “Building Plymouth is thrilled to be once again opening the world of live construction sites across the city to schools, university students, military service leavers and job seekers looking to find out more about the fantastic careers in construction and the built environment. The fact that we can tie this in with National Careers Week is the perfect chance to promote the amazing training and employment opportunities that are being created through delivering Plymouth’s biggest capital build in 25 years.”

The Building Plymouth Open Sites programme takes place week commencing 3 March 2025 Bookings will be first come first served – to register a single place or group booking (usually up to 15 people but site dependent) please email hello@buildingplymouth.co.uk
