On Wednesday 21 June, between 2-6pm at Stonehouse Barracks, we are hosting an event for Plymouth's military community, showcasing current and upcoming job vacancies and career opportunities in the city. With 18 employers confirmed, and support from the Forces Employment Charity, Career Transition Partnership and Outset (for those interested in exploring self-employment), the event is set to be an exciting first for Skills Launchpad Plymouth and partners.
In addition to showcasing great job opportunities, this event will also feature three keynote speakers, including Paul Montgomery who will be joining to talk about his experiences transitioning into self-employment.
Paul Montgomery started Sir Fix-a-lock in 2011, three years before leaving the Army. After a 25-year career, he left the services to grow the Sir Fix-a-lock into the largest locksmith company in the area, employing mostly veterans. The company is also the only Master Locksmith Association accredited company in Plymouth. Sir Fix-a-lock is a multi-award winning company, including Yale’s Trusted Tradesman (national winner), Herald Award for CSR and the Gold award to the Armed Forces Covenant ERS scheme amongst other achievements. Continually pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box, the company just opened Plymouths only shop that sells locks, UPVC spares, car keys, engraving, master suites, fob cloning and specialist key cutting under one roof.
Whether you are a service leaver or family member interested in a particular sector, or just want to explore local opportunities in Plymouth, this event could be your first step in planning your future.
