Our Youth Hub is here to help you!

 

Are you one of this year’s school, college or university leavers, wondering what your next move should be?

 

Whatever your circumstances, we can offer you free and impartial advice on:

  • progressing with training or education

  • finding a job or an apprenticeship

  • starting your own business

  • developing your CV, applications and interview techniques

  • where you want to start.

Looking for support in person?

  • Sector Drop-in Sessions: For anyone interested in Plymouth's growth sectors, drop in and meet with sector coordinators every Monday and Tuesday between 10am and 2pm for more information about jobs, apprenticeships or further study.  You can also find out more about opportunities in key growth sectors here.

​​

  • ​Free 1:1 support from our Youth Hub Coordinators: aged 16-24? Pre-book your 1:1 with our youth team by signing up as a member here

​​

  • Find Your Future drop-in sessions: every Thursday we keep the diary clear for care experienced young people in Plymouth to drop in for a relaxed introductory chat to explore the latest opportunities and support available to them. No need to book, just drop in with your PA, a friend, or by yourself and Abi or Rhi will be happy to help.

​​

  • Mentoring Drop-in: Would you benefit from working with a mentor? Join us on Wednesday 14 August to take your first step to finding out about Plymouth's free mentoring programme, with a view to being connected with a local mentor and exploring what you want from the experience (as part of our starting steps event).

​​

  • Training and Apprenticeship Drop-ins: Every Wednesday over the summer holiday, we're hosting themed drop-in or pop-up events themed around different sectors, or opportunities. These events are a great chance for you to meet local training providers and to explore the local options that will help you work towards a career in your preferred sector. Look out for our the creative industries takeover; construction and the green economy; tourism, hospitality and retail, as well as help getting started or choosing your next steps after getting your exam results. NOTE: these sessions are open to anyone aged 16-24 so don't worry if you aren't one of this year's education leavers, you're invited as well!

  • Employability sessions: Applying for a job or apprenticeship? This free and fun session could make a real difference to your next interview and preparing you for employment. Those who attend will also be supported to apply for a vacancy, and also treated to a free pizza lunch and receive support with buying interview clothes. Email skillslaunchpad@plymouth.gov.uk to book your place.

  • A level and GCSE results sessions: got your results and feeling ready to plan your next steps? Drop-in for support from our Youth Hub team to get on track for September and beyond!​

OPPORTUNITIY FOR MILITARY FAMILIES!

​

  • Military Families Education Leavers Drop-in: this support session is specifically aimed at helping young people in service families plan their next steps. No need to book, just drop in and see us on Friday 23 August, 10am to 2pm.
     

We are more than happy to help advise concerned parents or carers too - and if you are someone who needs help to get your head in the right space before you’re ready to take those next important steps, that's ok as well. We are able to signpost for mental health and well-being support to help give you the confidence and reassurance you need to move forward.
